Engro Fertilisers, Pakistan's leading seed-to-harvest solution provider, organized a series of farmer seminars to support the Punjab government's "Grow More Wheat" initiative to improve the country's food security and farmers' productivity.

The seminars were held in Sargodha, Gujranwala and Kabirwala, and were attended by Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, Minister of Agriculture of Punjab Province as the main guest. More than 2,000 progressive farmers, distributors and other important stakeholders related to the agricultural sector participated in these events.

In the "Grow More Wheat" campaign, Engro Fertilizers provides support to the provincial government by training farmers in the best crop and fertilizer management practices to increase productivity and profitability. Therefore, this will encourage farmers to increase the country’s wheat planting area and ensure sufficient wheat stocks to improve Pakistan’s food and nutrition security.

At the meeting, Asif Ali, Head of R&D at Engro Fertilisers, reiterated the company's long-term commitment to helping Pakistani farmers grow. He shared that Engro Fertilizers is the only urea manufacturer that provides seed-to-harvest solutions, including a series of high-quality seeds, value-added fertilizers and agrochemicals, to promote the improvement of crop quality and yield with lower input costs.

Khusrau Nadir Gilani, Chief Commercial Officer of Engro Fertilisers, emphasized that compared with the global market, the price of urea provided by the local fertilizer industry is Rs 8,500 lower. As prices are significantly lower than in 2012, the local fertilizer industry will relieve farmers of an additional burden of more than 363 billion rupees this year. Through import substitution, the fertilizer industry will contribute more than US$3 billion in reducing the trade deficit in 2021. In addition, the local fertilizer industry can tap the export potential of more than US$400 million without any additional investment.

Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi praised Engro Fertilizers' cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture to convey the message of increasing productivity to growers. He said that under the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Khan Bazdar, the Punjab Provincial Government allocated more funds for fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and tube wells. , Drip irrigation, subsidies for tractors and agricultural machinery. He also distributed Kissan cards to growers and commended the farmers who performed the best in the production competition.
