Water treatment increases the yield of Almeria cucumber growers by 40%

Located in the greenhouse area of Almeria in southern Spain, a greenhouse grower who grows cucumbers in winter and watermelons in summer encountered some irrigation problems: the soil in the area is dry, the climate is warm, and the operators use organic fertilizers. These plants are grown in typical Almeria sandy soil (enarenado) and are irrigated using modern drip irrigation systems using pressure-compensated non-leak drippers.

When HPNow’s precision irrigation and agronomy experts evaluated the site, it became clear that clogged drippers would cause uneven irrigation and insufficient water and fertilizer delivery for some crops. In order to alleviate this situation, farm personnel often use drippers to "drain". This is a manual process and the cost of working hours is high.

Organic matter also analyzed the soil quality. The content of organic matter in the soil (a key parameter for the healthy growth of plants) is very low, only 0.33%. This is due to the poor solubility of organic fertilizers in water, which further aggravates the clogging of the dripper and reduces crop yields. To overcome these problems, the HPGen system was installed and integrated with the drip irrigation system. HPGen is installed in the irrigation room and is set to automatically fill the buffer tank with Peroxide UltraPure. Metering by proportional metering pump is both simple and effective.

Increase the yield After using the HPGen cucumber crop for one season, compare the yield with the previous season. The HPGen result is 17 kg/m2, which is the grower's record, which is much higher than the average level of 12 kg/m2 in the past 5 years. In addition, growers have observed that the quality of the fruit has improved, and the fruit can stay on the plant for a longer period of time, so that the harvest can be optimized according to market prices.

There are two reasons for the increase in output by more than 40%:

· Better irrigation uniformity: Two weeks after installing HPGen, all drippers showed uniform water flow, so that water and fertilizer were optimally distributed throughout the field.

· Increase the soil organic matter content by 10 times (from 0.33 to 4%), which helps to improve plant nutrition.

Both of these factors are due to the high oxidizing power of Peroxide UltraPure produced by the HPGen system, which can oxidize the organic matter in the irrigation system and make it available for crops. This leads to better health and vitality of the plants, and increases yields.
