The Vinyl Sustainability Council presents Lakeland Polymers with the 2021 Recycling Award

The Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC) is a self-funded business committee dedicated to promoting the sustainable development of the vinyl industry. At its annual meeting, it awarded the 2021 Recycling Award to Lakeland Polymers in Boonton, New Jersey. In recognition of their Flex-Tech gas hose recycling program.

"Lakeland's innovative post-processing strategy allows them to convert two different types of plastic waste into reusable raw materials for alternative applications," said Jay Thomas, executive director of the Vinyl Sustainability Council. "This product innovation keeps PVC away from landfills."

The Vinyl Sustainability Council’s Recycling Award recognizes recyclers and product manufacturers operating in North America for finding new solutions and/or markets for PVC scrap or waste, increasing the use of recycled vinyl content in their products and/or recycling Establish a partnership with the company in the plan.

Lakeland Polymers Flex-Tech Gas Hose Recycling Program Lakeland Polymers is a plastic recycling company that prides itself on solving and solving challenges for its customers. In February 2021, Lakeland Polymers partnered with Flex-Tech Hose of San Marcos, Texas to find solutions for PVC and copolyester waste problems. Lakeland is able to develop a customized recycling process that allows incompatible materials in the waste to be processed into reusable forms.

"Our experience in recycling PVC waste has allowed us to develop solutions to recycle items that are difficult to recycle. This project is another step we have taken to help reduce waste and further our sustainable development efforts for our customers and suppliers." Said David Maute, co-owner of Lakeland Polymers. In this program, Lakeland processes more than 45,000 pounds of PVC waste from Flex-Tech every month. So far, the partnership has transferred more than 325,000 pounds of PVC from the landfill, thereby extending the life and sustainable use of vinyl.
