Crime Reports: Officers find glass pipe with burnt residue during traffic stop

The police department urged people with any information to call the Crime Line at 806-741-1000, noting that all calls remain anonymous and that callers could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.

Theft was reported on June 22 at the 300 block of Thomas Blvd. A citizen reported being a victim of fraud.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on June 22 at the 1000 block of W. 18th St. during a traffic stop. The man was found to have an active misdemeanor warrant.

Criminal mischief was reported on June 23 at the 1500 block of W. 5th St.

A traffic violation was reported on June 23 at the 700 block of Joliet St. A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with driving with an invalid license with previous conviction/suspension without financial resolution. The driver also received two citations during the stop.

A crash was reported at W. 6th and Denver on June 23. A vehicle failed to yield right-of-way. No injuries were reported.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested on June 23 at the 1800 block of SW 3rd St. during a traffic stop. She was charged with two outstanding warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility, having an unrestrained child under 5 in the vehicle.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested on June 23 at the 2200 block of W. 24th St. during a traffic stop. The woman was charged with driving with no license, for displaying an expired license and for displaying a fictitious license plate.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested on June 23 when officers responded to a crash at the 700 block of the east frontage road of N. I-27. One of the involved parties was found to have outstanding warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility, for driving with no license and for operating an unregistered motor vehicle. The individual was also charged with driving with no license and with driving a vehicle with no liability insurance.

An assault was reported at the 2500 block of Sabine St. on June 23. An individual reported being struck by a jack but was not on scene when officers arrived.

Joe Castro Jr., 60, was arrested on June 23 at the 910 block of W. 28th St. Officers were dispatched to the location in reference to someone making threats with a gun. Castro was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony.

A theft was reported at the 410 block of Bryan on June 24.

Forgery was reported on June 24 at the 810 block of W. 8th St. An individual at the location reported receiving two fraudulent checks in the mail from someone they’d been in contact with.

Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of N. Columbia on June 24 in reference to a stolen bicycle.

A crash resulting in an injury was reported on June 24 at the 3300 block of Olton Road.

Another crash resulting in an injury was reported at the 3700 block of Olton Road on June 24. The injured parties were transported to Covenant Health Plainview by EMS.

An individual called the Plainview PD on June 24 to report fraudulent activity on their bank account.

On June 24, an individual took a Cash App debit card to the PD after finding it on the sidewalk of Broadway Park.

A woman stopped by the Plainview PD on June 24 to report a man threating to expose explicit photos of her on the internet.

A crash resulting in vehicle damage was reported on June 24 at the 1600 block of W. 5th St.

An assault was reported on June 24 at the 900 block of Fir St. Upon arrival at the location, officers observed a man with a bloody cut on his check. The victim told officers the suspect was inside the residence. A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury or family violence.

An assault was reported on June 25 at the 2600 block of Dimmitt Road.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested on June 25 at the 2000 block of W. 13th St. during a traffic stop. During the stop, the driver was arrested for driving with an invalid license with previous suspension without financial responsibility.

A 59-year-old man was arrested on June 26 at the 2200 block of W. 20th St. The individual was charged with criminal trespass.

A crash resulting in injury was reported at the 1800 block of W. 5th St. on June 26.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on June 26 at the 1500 block of W. 12th St. Officers responded to the location in reference to criminal trespass. The individual was charged with criminal trespass of a habitation/shelter.

Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of N. I-27 in reference to a disturbance. Responding officers located a man and woman having a verbal argument. The man was found to have a protection order against him and was placed under arrest. He was released due to medical conditions.

Police arrested 41-year-old Manuel Juan Torrez on June 26 at the 1300 block of N. I-27. Officers responded in reference to a suspicious person. Torrez was found to have an active felony warrant out of New Mexico.

A stolen vehicle was located at the 200 block of SE 1st St. on June 27.

A robbery was reported at the 1700 block of W. 5th St. on June 27.

Fraudulent use of credit cards was reported on June 27 at the 810 block of W. 7th St.

Police arrested 59-year-old Margarito Garcia on June 27 at the 300 block of W. 16th St. Garcia was charged with a felony warrant for a parole violation.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested on June 27 at the 2600 block of W. 5th St. for possession of marijuana and for two active warrants – one for speeding and one for violating a promise to appear.

A traffic stop resulted in an arrest of a 36-year-old man at the 1000 block of Houston St. The vehicle had an obscured license plate and the driver was found to have two active warrants. Officers placed the individual in handcuffs then found a glass pipe with a crystal-like substance and burnt residue in plain view in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was also found to have a fictitious temporary license plate. The driver was arrested and was given several additional citations for a traffic stop. The individual was charged with driving with no license, with displaying a fictitious license plate, with displaying unclean license plates, with possession/delivery of drug paraphernalia, and with operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility.

Gambling was reported on June 28 at the 5200 block of N. I-27.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of Dimmitt Road on June 28 in reference to marijuana.

A 17-year-old man was arrested on June 28 at the 300 block of W. 5th St. during a traffic stop for the vehicle operating without tail lights at night time. During the traffic investigation, it was discovered that the driver was a minor and was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Yonkers on June 28 in reference to an assault that had occurred in the pool area. Officers met with the victim who told them the suspect slapped him then went to grab a knife and came back to the pool threatening to stab him. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived.

Theft was reported at the 400 block of W. 5th St. on June 28.

Criminal mischief was reported on June 29 at the 1100 block of Garland St. Damaged property was reported.

A 27-year-old woman was arrested on June 29 at the 1800 block of N. Columbia St. during a traffic violation. The driver was charged with driving without an invalid license without financial responsibility and with driving with no motor vehicle liability insurance and with display of an expired license plate.

A crash resulting in vehicle damage was reported at Ennis and Olton Road on June 29. A citation was issued to one driver who was following too close to the second. No injuries were reported.

An officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of W. 18th St. on June 29 for criminal mischief. Damaged property was reported.

A crash resulting in vehicle damage was reported at the 2200 block of W. 5th St. on June 29. A citation was issued to the driver for failure to control speed.

Officers conducted a traffic stop at the 200 block of E. 24th St. on June 29. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana.

A traffic stop was conducted on June 30 at the 2500 block of W. 5th St. Officers observed the driver showing signs of intoxication. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Criminal mischief was reported at the 3000 block of W. 16th St. on June 30. A suspicious male was reported walking around the residence. The man was found to have two active warrants. Upon investigation, the individual’s shoes were found in the backyard of a residence along with damage to two window screens. The man was charged with criminal mischief as well as the warrants for public intoxication and for failure to appear/bail jumping.

A burglary was reported at the 600 block of W. 5th St. on June 30.

Identification theft was reported at the 100 block of W. 9th St. on June 30.
