Main Street Murfreesboro kicks off the Friday Night Live concert season Friday, June 3, on the Public Square.

Enjoy free live music from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Be sure you bring your own seating — chairs and blankets — and plan to dine at one of the downtown restaurants and do a little shopping.

The Pilots  will take the stage this week to kick off the season. Groove Addiction will perform July 1. Mix Tape goes on stage Aug. 5. 24/7 will close out the concert season Sept. 16.

An array of food, fun, music and vendors will help kick off the summer in Smyrna this weekend.

Carpe Artista's Simply Smyrna celebration, set for 6-10 p.m. Saturday in the Historic Depot District on Front Street. 

Wander through downtown Smyrna to shops the booths of artisans and crafters, peruse a plethora of cuisines from one of the food trucks and enjoy music from several stages set up.

Ages 21 and older can also participate in wine and craft beer tasting.

Performers include Pontiac Alley, Clare Cunningham, Chad Bruneau, the Jason Lee McKinney Band, Israel Naor, Mark Thomas, Elecoustic Soul, Alayna Renae, Jaysen Gold, Turner Hamilton, Travis Ryan and Carpe Artista students.

Some of Murfreesboro's most beautiful backyard gems will be spotlighted on the 30th Discovery Center Secret Garden Tour and Secret Garden Party this weekend.

In honor of the Discovery Center museum's 35th year, the weekend kicks off with "A Gilded Evening in the Gardens of Versailles" at 7 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the home of Sharon and Dr. Murali Kolli in Northwoods Cove. There will be a live auction, open bar, music and catering by Five Senses. Cost is $100 per person. Purchase online at explorethedc.org/events/sgp.

The Secret Garden Tour is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at four area gardens. Tickets for the tour are $10 per person and can be purchased online at explorethedc.org/events/sgt2022.

The Arts Center of Cannon County, 1424 John Bragg Highway in Woodbury, presents English Rain Beatles tribute band on stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5. The band not only captures the classic sound, but also the inspired excitement of the original Fab Four recordings. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at artscenterofcc.com/events.

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation presents a summer of Movies Under the Stars. Bring lawn chairs, blankets — even use the bed of your truck — to see free movies. The season kicks off Monday, June 6 and runs through the week of June 27.

The Eagleville Truck and Tractor Pull at the Tennessee Valley Pioneer Power Association showgrounds, 747 Chapel Hill Pike, is set to kick off at 6 p.m. June 11. Admission is $10, with kids 8 and younger admitted free with paying adult. The city of La Vergne will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a picnic and inaugural Touch-A-Truck event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11 at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 115 Floyd Mayfield Drive. Children of all ages can explore a variety of vehicles and meet the people who operate them. The city will provide free hot dogs, snacks and water. Visit lavergnetn.gov to learn more.

Play under the spray of the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department at the summertime Splash Out! Wear clothes and shoes to get wet in, and don’t forget your sunscreen and towel. Admission is free. Times are 1:30-3 p.m. and dates are:

Explore the creek at Gregory Mill Park, 390 Enon Springs Road E. in Smyrna. June in the Creek will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. June 2, 16, 23 and 30.  Wear close-toed shoes and clothing you can get wet. There is no charge.

Thinking about getting into boating? Try out a variety of watercraft at the annual Boat Day. Times are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 18 at the Jefferson Springs Recreation Area off Jefferson Pike at Percy Priest Lake, and 9 a.m. to noon June 25 at the Stones River Greenway's Manson Pike Trailhead, 1208 Searcy St. (off Medical Center Parkway). Flotation devices, paddles and boats are provided. This event is free and open to all ages.
